Discover this unique archive! The Jean Trudel Collection is now publicly accessible via a dedicated web platform, allowing everyone to explore multimedia archives from this exceptional folk collection.

This collection contains audio and video recordings made by folklorist Jean Trudel in Québec between 1965 and 1977, spanning regions from Outaouais to the Îles-de-la-Madeleine, Charlevoix, Saguenay, Beauce, Québec City, and Montréal.

It showcases both well-known and lesser-known personalities such as Jos Bouchard, Antonio Bazinet, Louis “Pitou” Boudreault, Philippe Bruneau, Jean Carignan, William Gagnon, Thérèse Rioux, the Verret family, Simonne Voyer, and more, often in intimate contexts.

This project is a collaboration between the University of Toronto Scarborough, the Canadian Museum of History, the Québec Council for Living Heritage, and Memorial University of Newfoundland.
